YouTube is testing the New Settings menu for Video Quality: Report

According to reports, YouTube is testing new video quality settings that will automatically adjust the playback resolution based on data usage settings. The new drop-down menu for settings, which is currently being tested in beta, differs from the current settings on YouTube, which allow users to select a specific resolution – between 144p and 4K – for streaming video. The options the new menu is reported to include are Auto, Higher Image Quality (more data usage) and Data Saver, plus an advanced option to choose a specific resolution.

As reported by 9to5GoogleIn addition to the new video quality options, the YouTube video settings menu under test also states the current resolution of the video above. Also, users can choose from various default settings for streaming video over WiFi and cellular data.

The options are reportedly being tested on one beta Version 15.45.32. It is currently unclear whether YouTube will make this feature available to more users in the coming days. The report also does not indicate whether the video quality settings menu will be changed for all users worldwide or restricted to specific regions.
