YouTube is back after a global outage of about 2 hours

YouTube is operational again after a worldwide failure. The unintended downtime appeared to have impacted other related services, including YouTube TV and Google TV (formerly Google Play Movies and TV). YouTube confirmed the problem in a tweet posted around 5:30 p.m. IST on November 12, stating that the team was working on a solution. Users had started complaining about the problem a few minutes earlier. The outage appears to last until 7:40 a.m. IST, around the time YouTube tweeted to let users know that it has been fixed., a website that monitors internet outages worldwide and across social media platforms, showed nearly 286,000 complaints from users highlighting the problem. This was noted around 6 a.m. IST when the Down Detector graph had reached its peak with complaints about YouTube. According to the website, the problem started around 6:53 p.m. CET (5:23 p.m. IST). The users said that they had problems watching videos on the platform.

About two hours later, YouTube informed users via an online tweet that the services on all devices and YouTube services had been repaired. However, the update was with no explanation of what caused the failure.

… and we’re back – we’re so sorry for the interruption. This is fixed on all devices and YouTube services, thank you for being patient with us ❤️

The YouTube website loaded without any problems, but the videos did not stream as desired and showed the loading wheel for up to a minute before a playback error was thrown reported by The Verge. The report said that any error messages could be cleared with a simple update after YouTube told users on Twitter that their services were fixed.
