Xiaomi stops the introduction of the Android 11 update for Mi A3 after bricking problems

Xiaomi has stopped rolling out the Android 11 update for Mi A3, which has blocked the phone. Several users reported the problem on social media platforms, including Reddit, following the update released earlier this week. The Android 11 update for Mi A3 should bring the latest Android experience along with features like chat bubbles and the improved Do Not Disturb (DND) mode. It mainly came months after Xiaomi brought Android 11 to other models like the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Mi 10.

A large number of affected users complained On Twitter, after installing Android 11 on the Mi A3, the phone went completely dead. It didn’t even turn on the bootloader or woke up when connected to a PC thread on Reddit. This condition is often referred to as brick.

“My Mi A3 was dead after downloading Android 11,” said one affected user wrote to the Xiaomi India Support Account on Twitter. “I visited your service center. You can’t fix my phone. “

Some users also have created a petition on the Change.org platform to ask the company to either replace or repair the Mi A3 for free due to the faulty Android 11 update. The problem does not seem confined to the Indian market either and affects users worldwide.

Xiaomi told Gadgets 360 that it was aware of the problem and was working on a solution. However, there is no clarity on how the company can provide the same as the affected Mi A3 units don’t even wake up.

“We noticed that few Mi A3 users are having issues with the recent OTA update to Android 11,” the company said. “While the rollout was stopped at our end, our teams are working on solving the problem at the earliest. The customer experience is our top priority and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will keep all users informed about the next steps. “

In particular, this is not the first time that Xiaomi has been outraged by defective software. In June 2019, some Mi 9 SE users reported a similar bricking problem after installing MIUI 10.3.1. Several Mi, Redmi, and Poco users also complained about a bootloop issue in November.

The Mi A3 was also affected by an incorrect firmware update in July that deactivated the second SIM card. Xiaomi has solved this problem with a new software version. The Android 10 update for Mi A3 has also been stopped twice as several problems were reported after the first two versions.

Xiaomi brought the Mi A3 in 2019 as the last phone based on Google’s Android One program. As an Android One model, the phone should get quick and bug-free updates. However, this was not the case when we look at previous records.
