With Google Photos, users can see how long their storage plan is valid

Google Photos is getting a feature that tells users how long their current cloud storage will last. Recently, Google announced that it would end its unlimited free storage starting June 1st next year. After the 15 GB limit has expired, users will have to pay to save their photos and videos to Google Photos. With the new tool, users can use their personal upload history to estimate when the current storage space is running out. It also shows users how much storage space is being used by Google Drive and Gmail.

To find out how much space is left in your Google Account, go to this page and log into your account. If you’re already signed in, you’ll see your total storage based on the plan you’re using. If you haven’t purchased a plan, you get 15GB free for every Google Account for original quality storage by default. The tool shows you an estimate of the life span of your memory. This estimate depends on how often you back up content to your Google Account. It also shows the storage space of your photos and videos, as well as the content of Google Drive and Gmail.

The tool was revealed from Google Photos product manager David Lieb through a series of tweets explaining the development.

Recently, Google announced that the free unlimited storage service will end on June 1, 2021. High quality photos and videos that have already been uploaded or will be uploaded before June 1st next year do not count towards the 15 GB free storage space. Google said the change will allow it “to keep up with the growing demand for storage”.

Additionally, the search giant will add a new free tool to the Photos app that will allow users to manage their backed up photos and videos. The tool will be added next June when this change is implemented. Users can also purchase more storage space via Google One Plans that start at Rs. 130 per month and offers 100 GB of storage. This plan is currently discounted to Rs. 65 for the first three months. There is also a Rs. 210 per month plan for 200 GB and a Rs. 650 per month plan for 2 TB of storage.
