WhatsApp is actively working on a vacation mode feature that will allow users to keep the archived chat in the archive even when a new message comes in. Currently, WhatsApp archives chats when a new message comes in and vacation mode tries to prevent that from happening. The latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android introduces improvements to this vacation mode feature and indicates that WhatsApp is actively developing it, including UI improvements in the Archived Chats section. The feature is still under development and has not yet been enabled for public beta testing.
The instant messaging platform has released the latest WhatsApp beta for Android v126.96.36.199 and WhatsApp observer WABetaInfo dug in his code to see any new features WhatsApp may be working on. The feature tracker has determined that WhatsApp is currently developing the “vacation mode” function. As mentioned earlier, this new entry allows users to keep chats in the archive when new messages come in. In recent beta updates, WhatsApp prevented muted archived chats from automatically not archiving when new messages came in. However, this new beta version suggests that WhatsApp users don’t need muted chats to keep them in the archive.
There are also some changes in the user interface such as: B. “Archived chats” can be moved to the top of your chat list once vacation mode is activated for better visibility. In this update, WhatsApp is also working on introducing the Archived Chats feature with a new banner that reads: “Move chats to be kept muted here” and not return “Chats with new messages” to the main chat list. This indicates that the behavior of the archived chats feature will change for all archived chats. Currently, the tracker says these new tweaks haven’t been enabled for users even in the latest beta.
