Vivo will soon replace Funtouch OS with new ‘Origin OS’: Report

According to reports, Vivo is replacing Funtouch OS with a brand new avatar and name, i.e. Origin OS. The well-known tipster Digital Chat Station states that Vivo has confirmed this via its official WeChat account that Origin OS will be launched soon. The exact launch date is now known, but Vivo will be talking more about this brand new software during its 2020 Vivo Developer Conference on November 19th. This conference is supposed to take place in Shenzhen and focus on the new operating systems, IoT, apps and games and other topics.

SeekDevice cited tipsters Digital Chat Station too report The Origin operating system will soon start. This new software replaces Vivo’s current Funtouch operating system. The tipster claims that Vivo has confirmed this development through its official WeChat account and that more details about this operating system will be revealed during the developer conference. An exact date for the introduction of this new Origin operating system is unknown. There is also no clarity as to which phone will get it first.

While there is no information about all of the changes Origin OS is making, the tipster says this will be a significant improvement over the current Funtouch operating system. Also, in one of the earlier Weibo posts, Digital Chat Station suggested that Origin OS would be one of the best custom skins for Android user interfaces. We expect Vivo to release more information on Origin OS at the November Developer Conference.

Vivo recently performed very poorly in the research company Counterpoint’s trust ranking for 2020. According to their findings, only 24 percent of the Vivo phones sold between Q3 2019 and Q2 2020 were updated to Android 10. A large percentage of phones remain on Android 9 Pie, and a significant chunk is stuck on Android Oreo as well. The company has also been called for inconsistency with its security patches.
