Vi Trumps Airtel, Jio offers highest call quality in December: TRAI

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has once again topped the quality of the Indian Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRAI) for the quality of voice call quality charts, this time for the month of December. The telecommunications operator had also prevailed in November and trumped BSNL, which offered the best call quality in October. Idea in particular had the best voice call quality in December with an average rating of 4.9 out of 5. Vodafone took second place with an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 points. Vodafone and Idea recently merged into one entity, Vi, bringing together prepaid and postpaid subscribers.

TRAI’s voice call quality data can be accessed through the MyCall dashboard on the website official page. The data for December 2020 is now live on the dashboard, showing that both Idea and Vodafone have outperformed other telecom operators such as Airtel, BSNL and Jio. While Idea and Vodafone had the highest average rating for voice call quality, BSNL and Reliance Jio came in second with an average rating of 3.9. Airtel achieved the lowest score with 3.1 out of 5 points. This data is based on user feedback.

Overall, 86.84 percent of the users had a satisfactory voice quality, 8.39 percent had a poor voice quality and 4.77 percent had an abandoned call. For call quality indoors, Vodafone received a rating of 4.4, while the call quality outdoors was just 3.6. Idea, on the other hand, received 4.9 for indoor and outdoor call quality. BSNL received a rating of 3.8 for indoor call quality and 4.3 for outdoor call quality. Reliance Jio scored 3.9 for indoor and outdoor call quality. Airtel achieved the lowest score for indoor and outdoor call quality at 3.1.

In November, Idea was at the top with 4.9 out of 5 points, Vodafone with 4.6 out of 5 points. BSNL followed with 4.1 out of 5 points and Airtel and Reliance Jio with 3.8 out of 5 points. BSNL’s call quality ratings fell slightly from November through December, with the average rating falling from 4.1 from 5 to 3.9 out of 5.
