UFO VPN is a VPN service provider with a 20 million user base worldwide. The service aims to protect user privacy and facilitate access to all types of geographically restricted content – all at low prices.
UFO VPN offers different pricing options of different lengths. However, the cheapest is the two-year subscription, which can be yours for the equivalent of $ 2.91 / month.
There’s a no-risk 30-day money-back guarantee if you’re not 100% satisfied with the service (although we’ve noticed that the ToS states that this period is 7 days). As soon as you run the service on a PC, you will get a message that a 7-day free trial is on the table (the Android version gives you 3 days).
And that’s not all. There’s even a basic version of the service that you can get for free if you don’t mind the ads and limited number of servers.
You can run up to 5 connections at the same time under one account. Payments are made with either a credit / debit card or cryptocurrency.
UFO VPN is a very good provider that comes close to today’s top VPN platforms in many ways, largely thanks to its large network of servers, content unblocking features, and lightning speed.
However, it is inferior in some areas. For example, it doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee that’s as generous as CyberGhost’s (45 days), it’s more expensive than Surfshark, doesn’t support a wide range of devices like NordVPN, and doesn’t offer as comprehensive a package as ExpressVPN.
The ability to unblock popular geo-restricted streaming content like Netflix, BBC iPlayer, HBO, and more is a desirable feature in any VPN. Many users seek a VPN for this reason alone. UFO VPN can grant access to such geoblocked content.
about the company
The UFO VPN software is owned by a company called Dearmfii HK Limited, headquartered in Hong Kong. It gives users access to more than 2,000 servers in over 50 countries around the world, including Israel, South Korea, India, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Peru, Mexico, Moldova, Croatia, Romania, Latvia, Russia and more.
Data protection and encryption
We couldn’t find any information on whether UFO VPN allowed torrenting / P2P traffic and we never received a response from customer support. We therefore assume that this is prohibited.
The apps don’t have a lot of features or options, even though they do offer a kill switch. This is an optional security mechanism that will block your entire internet connection if the VPN goes down. In this way, UFO VPN can prevent your IP address and other private information from being lost.
UFO VPN has intuitive apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, but in terms of platform support. In other words, there is no manual installation support for other devices.
At the time of writing the Android app had recorded over 1 million downloads and it had a very good rating: 4.5 stars (out of 5), rated by 62,247 users. It is iOS Its counterpart had an even better score: 4.7 stars, rated by 16.9,000 users. The apps are updated regularly.
If you encounter any issues while using this VPN, customer service is available via email through the contact form on the website FAQ pageas well as over Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. We tried the email method but we still don’t get a response.
However, you may want to try the FAQ page first, which is broken down into three categories: troubleshooting, billing, and setup guides. There is also a Blog Here you can find interesting information about UFO VPN, the VPN industry in general, as well as some tips and tricks for protecting your privacy and accessing various censored materials online.
Speed and experience
UFO VPN’s apps are exceptionally user-friendly and well-designed so we had no problems using them. We tested its performance on an 84.63 Mbps connection and were pleasantly surprised.
First we wanted to see how a server near us would fare, so we picked one in Germany and it delivered a very nice 30.7 Mbit / s. Then we went on to a server in New York, which gave us an impressive 28 , 7 Mbit / s.
After all, we tested a server on the other side of the planet in Japan and were not disappointed there either with an excellent 33.27 Mbit / s.
Upload speeds stayed the same with the exception of Japan, where they were cut in half.
UFO VPN offers some of the fastest speeds we’ve seen in business regardless of the location of the server we’re connected to. This is likely aided by the sheer number of servers around the world. We also loved the fact that it can unblock various geo-restricted streaming services.
However, it lacks some features such as 24/7 live chat support, manual installation support for non-mainstream devices, torrent support, and consistency of information across the site to avoid confusion.
