Twitter is resetting its thread conversation layout, which started earlier this year. The company said user feedback on the new design hasn’t been very positive. This layout showed responses to the original post with thin gray lines to form a thread. Twitter said it will now work on a new design for conversations. Thread conversations were first tested on Twttr, its prototype app, and then rolled over to the main Twitter app in May. Twitter also confirmed that the Twttr prototype app has been disabled for the time being and recommended that Twttr users switch to the main app.
The Company announced The thread conversations are rolled back through the Twitter support account. “We asked, and you told us that this answer layout is not true because conversations are harder to read and participate in. So we turned this format off to work on other ways to improve conversations on Twitter, ”the post said. Users have also suggested that more context is needed in conversations about who they spoke to, and Twitter has stated that they are working on adding this. The company said it will also give users more control over conversation settings.
For those who don’t know, the new thread conversation design should better organize things with “lines and indentations” that should differentiate between responses to different Tweets. The function was specially introduced to make it easier to follow long conversations with many answers. However, the feedback indicated that thread conversations were becoming harder to read and engaging in conversations was becoming a complicated affair.
Separately, Twitter is also shutting down its Twttr prototype app, which was launched last year, to test new features before launching them on the main app. Twitter support tweeted“We are pleased about the feedback you gave us through this run of our prototype app twttr. At the moment we’re turning it off so we can work on new tests to improve the conversation experience on Twitter. If you’re using Twttr, head over to the main Twitter app to keep up to date. “
