Thor: Love and Thunder Throws Chris Pratt as Star-Lord: Report

Chris Pratt is the first Guardians of the Galaxy member to join the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder, according to a new report. Pratt will repeat his role as Peter Quill / Star-Lord. This was expected because Thor (Chris Hemsworth) was present on the Guardians of the Galaxy starship at the end of Avengers: Endgame and Vin Diesel – who speaks Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – had revealed that the Guardians of the Galaxy would be a part of Thor: love and thunder.

The Hollywood Reporter brings Pratt’s take on Thor: Love and Thunder, which is currently in preproduction and preparing to begin filming in January 2021 in Australia, where another Marvel film, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, recently filmed has been. Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi returns to direct the fourth Thor film, which stars Natalie Portman as Jane Foster / Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Christian Bale as the villain and Waititi as Korg.

This confirms what Diesel had said Waititi had already told him in March that the next Thor movie would feature some Guardians of the Galaxy before adding, “Maybe I shouldn’t have said anything.”

If you remember, at the end of Endgame, Thor left New Asgard – now on Earth – in the capable hands of Valkyrie, decided to embrace who he was, and boarded the Guardians’ ship to rediscover the Willows. Thor described the new group as the Asgardians of the Galaxy and then played with Star-Lord about who really was in control of the ship. Marvel fans will be happy to see more of this hoax about Thor: Love and Thunder, though the extent of Pratt’s role remains unclear.

The fourth Thor film will then be the fifth film in the fourth phase of the MCU Black widow (May 2021), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (July 2021), Eternal (November 2021) and Spider-Man 3 (December 2021). This is followed by Doctor Strange in the Multiversum of Madness (March 2022), Black Panther II (May 2022) and Captain Marvel 2 (July 2022). Several other MCU entries – Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Ant-Man 3, and blade among other things – are in development.

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently released in cinemas worldwide on February 11, 2022.
