The Madagascar special of the Grand Tour arrived earlier than expected

The Grand Tour’s Madagascar special – called “The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt” – was released a day earlier on Amazon Prime Video. On Thursday, the Grand Tour official channels and former Top Gear trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May announced on their social channels that the latest feature-length episode of the motor series is now available. It was originally supposed to premiere on Prime Video on Friday, but it was released earlier in a last-minute marketing stunt.

Here is the official recap of The Grand Tour Presents: A Massive Hunt From Amazon:

The intrepid trio finds themselves back on four wheels for their latest adventure. Armed with sports cars, Richard, James and Jeremy believe that they will have a comfortable road trip on the exotic island of Réunion and drive on the most expensive asphalt in the world. But a bizarre challenge drives them to Madagascar, where they have to tackle the toughest road in the world.

Back in November, Prime Video revealed the trailer and release date for the Madagascar special of the Grand Tour, which comes out a little over a year after the Vietnam special. We’ll see a lot less of the trio, but that’s because of their new deal with Amazon. After The Grand Tour had aired 38 episodes in three seasons between 2016 and 2019, it moved away from the hybrid studio and outdoor format. In addition to the specials, they deliver new solo exhibitions (Our Man in Japan for May and I Bought A Farm for Clarkson).

The next season 4 special episode of the Grand Tour in Scotland was filmed during the pandemic. It will air in 2021. Clarkson, Hammond and May originally had planned filming in Russia, but COVID-19 spoiled those plans.

The Madagascar Special of the Grand Tour is now available worldwide on Prime Video. It’s only available in English, but it has subtitles in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, which is worth it.
