Samsung Galaxy S9 +, Galaxy S9 December Security Patch Received: Report

Samsung Galaxy S9 + and Samsung Galaxy S9 have received an OTA update that brings with it the Android security patch for December 2020, according to a report. The update is now limited to the international variants of the smartphones. The update for Samsung Galaxy S9 + reportedly includes firmware version G965FXXSCFTK2, while for Samsung Galaxy S9 it is G960FXXSCFTK2. Smartphones received the Android Security Patch from November 2020 at the beginning of last month.

According to a report SamMobile will not make any further additions or changes to the smartphones with the update, except for the security patch. If you have an eligible Samsung Galaxy S9 + or Samsung Galaxy S9 model, you can check to see if you received a notification for the update. If not, go toSettings> Software Update> Download and Install to check the availability for the update.

Since the rollout has only just begun, it can take a few days for the update to reach your Samsung Galaxy S9 + or Samsung Galaxy S9.

Samsung Galaxy S9 + and Samsung Galaxy S9 have received the latest updates regularly since their release in 2018. The phones received the One UI 2.5 update in October, which brought support for wireless DeX, improved the Samsung keyboard with a new split mode, added a new YouTube search function, and improved the camera.

At the time of the update, the One U 2.5 was the last major update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 + and Samsung Galaxy S9 phones. It has been reported that while the phones are still receiving security patches, they are not receiving Android 11. In particular, Samsung Galaxy S9 + and Samsung Galaxy S9 were not mentioned in the timeline for the One UI 3.0 update based on Android 11 released by Samsung a few days ago for devices in Egypt.
