Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 will officially come with a QLED display

The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 was presented for CES 2021 as the successor to last year’s Galaxy Chromebook. The new model features a QLED display, which is a notable improvement over the AMOLED screen available on the predecessor. The Galaxy Chromebook 2 also has thinner frames. Samsung has kept the 2-in-1 form factor and added support for the USI (Universal Stylus Initiative) pen on the new Chromebook. In addition, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 offers two different color options to choose from with Intel Celeron and Intel Core i3 variants of the 10th generation. The Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 has a 13.3-inch Full HD QLED display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) with touch support. It is operated with either an Intel Celeron 5205U or Intel Core i3-10110U processor of the 10th generation, paired with Intel UHD Graphics and up to 8 GB LPDDR3 RAM. The Chromebook offers storage options of 64 GB and 128 GB as well as expansion support via a microSD card.

Samsung has shipped 5W stereo speakers along with Smart AMP Sound, which announces audio output up to 178 percent louder than an average amplifier. There is also support for a pen with pressure sensitivity up to 4096.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 has an HD webcam (720p). There is also a backlit grid keyboard. The Chromebook also has a 45.5 Wh battery.

The connectivity options of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 include two USB Type-C ports, a combo jack for headphones and a microphone, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.0. It runs on Google’s Chrome OS with access to the Google Play Store.

The Chromebook measures 304.9 x 203.2 x 13.9 mm and weighs 1.23 kilograms. This isn’t as slim or light as compared to the first-generation Galaxy Chromebook, which is 9.9mm thick and weighs 1.04kg. The cheaper price and the presence of a QLED display make the new model equally convincing.
