Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro to Support 3D Spatial Audio, More: Report

According to a new report, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro could have advanced features like 3D spatial audio with head tracking and speech recognition. In addition to Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Samsung’s upcoming true wireless earbuds are expected to come with these advanced features, which will offer a significant increase in performance compared to Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. The Galaxy Buds Pro is expected to hit the market in January 2021 along with the Galaxy S21 series of smartphones. This is evident from various reports and rumors.

The latest report comes on one App dismantling the specific plug-in for Galaxy Buds Pro in the Galaxy Wearable app, which shows new images of the earbuds and the charging case, as well as various functions such as spatial 3D audio, voice recognition and further confirmation of the presence of ANC and ambient noise modes. The app screenshots also show the preset equalizer settings that are typical for Samsung headphones, as well as the adjustment of the controls.

Among the main functions, 3D spatial audio creates a 3D-like environment when watching videos and certain content. However, this feature is only supported on the Galaxy Buds Pro when used with select Samsung smartphones running Android 11, which appears to be due to the requirement of certain sensors on the device to enable the head tracking feature.

Speech recognition will likely work with all devices, similar to Sony WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones. This triggers the ambient sound mode and is also likely to decrease the volume of the music playback when the user’s voice is recognized. This enables quick and immediate conversations without the user having to actively control the headphones.

Also mentioned is a function for adjusting the left / right hearing, which works in a similar way to the balance adjustments of audio systems. While this is not what we would expect from many people, it does help users with hearing problems or disabilities by increasing the volume on one side. As previously reported, the true Galaxy Buds Pro wireless earbuds are expected to have an in-canal fit and ANC, which is a significant step up from the Galaxy Buds Live.

Although Samsung Galaxy Buds Live was equipped with ANC and other premium features, it did not offer a comprehensive experience and did not consider many aspects in our test. The Galaxy Buds Live cost Rs. 14,990, which suggests the Galaxy Buds Pro could be priced closer to Rs. 20,000 based on design, features and positioning.
