Redmi 9 Power could come with quad rear view cameras

Redmi 9 Power could get a quad rear camera, as shown in an alleged render of the phone leaked online. The new render appeared shortly after Xiaomi announced the launch date for the Redmi 9 Power on December 17th. It is speculated that the smartphone will be available as a renamed version of the recently launched Redmi Note 9 4G, but with minor changes. Prior to its official announcement, the Redmi 9 Power had appeared on the “Devices supported by Google Play” page with the model number M2010J19SI, which is similar to the model number M2010J19SC associated with the Redmi Note 9 4G launched in China last month.

Tipper Ishan Agarwal has leaked the render of the Redmi 9 Power by 91mobile. The render that popped up shows that the phone has a quad rear camera, as opposed to the Redmi Note 9 4G with three rear cameras. However, the design of the rectangular camera bump as well as the texture on the back, as shown in the alleged render of the Redmi 9 Power, are quite similar to the Redmi Note 9 4G.

The exact number of megapixels of the fourth camera sensor of the Redmi 9 Power has yet to be announced. However, Xiaomi recently confirmed that the new Redmi phone – just like the Redmi Note 9 4G – will have a 48 megapixel primary sensor.

It is not a new strategy from Xiaomi to offer renamed phones with minor changes from an existing model. We last saw this on the Indian version of the Redmi 9, which came as a revamped Redmi 9C, but with two rear cameras instead of keeping the latter’s triple cameras. The rest of the specifications of the Redmi 9 and Redmi 9C were identical.

A few days ago the “Supported Devices from Google Play” page suggested renaming the Redmi Note 9 4G by mentioning the Redmi 9 Power with the model number M2010J19SI. This is very similar to the M2010J19SC on the Redmi Note 9 4G. In addition, both Redmi 9 Power and Redmi Note 9 4G have the same code name ‘lime’ as in Google listing.

Redmi 9 performance specifications (expected)

The Redmi 9 Power is said to have two memory variants – 64 GB and 128 GB – both of which come with 4 GB of RAM as standard. Further specifications of the Redmi 9 Power have yet to be reported. However, if the Redmi 9 Power carries essentially the same hardware as the Redmi Note 9 4G, with the exception of the rear camera setup, it could come with a 6.53-inch Full HD + display with a waterdrop-style notch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC. and an 8 megapixel selfie camera. The new phone may also keep the 6,000 mAh battery of the current Redmi Note series model. In addition, you can expect Android 10 with MIUI 12 at the top.
