Redesigned Amazon Fire TV device user interface with search tab, profiles, and more

Amazon Fire TV is getting an updated interface that focuses on personalization and discovery. It was first announced in September, and the updated user interface is now set to roll out on select Fire TV devices. According to the report, the third generation Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite will be the first to receive the update. Amazon calls it a “Brand New Fire TV Experience” and offers multi-user support, a new home screen, a “Search” tab, and much more.

The Fire TV redesign brings a new home screen that makes it easier to find content and allows easy access to pinned apps, live TV, and the library. There are also scrolling previews that allow you to “jump right into” your favorite shows with supported streaming services. Just like Netflix and other streaming services, Amazon Fire TV also receives multi-user profiles – up to six of them – with personalized recommendations, watch lists, viewing history, preferred settings and more for each user.

Use the Search tab to browse popular categories such as Movies, TV Shows, Free Ad-supported Content, and Sports. You can also filter the content by genre. The update offers improved Alexa support with better voice control. You can now ask Alexa to navigate to different categories like Live TV or News. A voice profile can also be set up so that Fire TV recognizes your voice and switches to your profile. The Alexa Explore option is available in the main menu and shows you what you can do with Alexa.

According to a report Cord Cutters News is rolling out the Amazon Fire TV update to the latest Fire TV Stick (Review) and Fire TV Stick Lite. According to Amazon, more devices will receive the update early next year.
