PlayStation 5 Owners Blocked From Selling Access to PS Plus Collection: Report

PlayStation 5 owners are reportedly banned by Sony from selling free access to the PS Plus collection to PlayStation 4 players. The PS Plus collection includes games like Bloodborne, God of War, Fallout 4, and more. PS5 owners received the collection when they signed into their console with their PlayStation account. PS4 users are reportedly receiving lifelong bans, while PS4 owners will be banned for two months. Most of the blocked accounts appear to be from Hong Kong.

Twitter user @zhihuwong sent Last week, thousands of PlayStation Network accounts, mostly focused in Hong Kong, were banned from selling access to the PS Plus collection to PS4 owners. The PS Plus Collection is made available for free to PS5 owners the first time they sign in to PlayStation Network with their PlayStation account with PS Plus subscription. The collection includes Bloodborne, Days Gone, God of War, the infamous Second Son, Until Dawn, The Last of Us Remastered, Uncharted 4: The End of a Thief, Batman: Arkham Knightm Fallout 4, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, and many more.

PS5 owners who received the PS Plus collection for free have reportedly sold off access to these PS4 owners by charging them money and providing their bank account details. According to a report With ScreenRant, a user made over $ 133 by billing PS4 owners nearly $ 7 when they tried to log into their account.

PlayStation 5 owners caught doing this have been given lifetime bans, while PS4 owners have received two-month bans, according to the tweet. Although Sony has not released any official information about it, it is believed that multiple user logins within a day will trigger the bans.

ScreenRant’s report suggests that this could be a crackdown on this exploit in preparation for a potential Xbox Game Pass-like service where Sony doesn’t want players to sell accounts to one another. Or it could just be an anti-fraud measure put in place by the company.
