OnePlus Nord receives its Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 Open Beta update

OnePlus Nord users can now install the open beta build of the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11. The software update is available for Indian and global variants of the phone, with the exception of the European version, which the company says will be added soon. OxygenOS 11 updates the device to Android 11 and brings changes such as: For example, a new UI design, a keyboard shortcut for dark mode, improvements to the display of the phone’s surroundings, and much more.

Since this is an open beta and not a stable release, OnePlus has benefited users through the Company forum that there may be potential risks associated with installing the beta software while providing installation instructions. According to the company, OnePlus Nord users must ensure that the battery level of their devices is above 30 percent and that at least 3 GB of storage space is available before installing the update.

OnePlus had confirmed late last week that OnePlus North will receive its first open beta build based on OxygenOS 11 this week. OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T are next up to receive the update in the coming weeks.

According to the changelog, OxygenOS 11 will add stability to some third-party applications and improve the user experience on the OnePlus Nord. Dark mode can be activated by pulling down the quick setting. Users can also adjust the timings for dark mode to activate automatically.

For the ambient display, 10 new clock styles have been added to the OnePlus Nord. There will be a newly added Insight clock style that will change based on the usage data of the phone. A “canvas” feature has also been added which can automatically draw a wireframe image based on a lock screen photo on the phone.

OxygenOS 11 will also add a new surface for the shelf design and a weather widget to the OnePlus Nord. There will be a story function in the gallery where weekly videos will be automatically created with photos and videos from memory according to the change log. The loading speed of the gallery and the image preview should be higher after the update according to OnePlus.

To upgrade, users must download the latest ROM upgrade ZIP package from the specified server and copy the ROM upgrade package to the phone memory. Then go to Settings>System Updates> Local Upgrade. Click the appropriate installation package upgrade. When the upgrade is complete, users need to click Start anew. As mentioned earlier in this article, OnePlus Nord users who use the smartphone as their daily driver should not consider installing the beta update as it is buggy. Instead, they should wait until the stable update is available in the coming weeks.
