Netflix has found that its Indian subscribers have the highest number of viewers of films on the platform compared to any other country where Netflix is available. In India, 80 percent of Netflix subscribers watch at least one movie a week. And with the growth of Netflix subscribers in India in 2020 (thanks in part to COVID-19, which forced people to spend more time at home), viewership has grown across the board. K-dramas rose 370 percent year-over-year in India, followed by non-fiction and romantic stories, up 250 percent. The time spent on documentaries and children’s titles also doubled.
But Netflix didn’t give us any specific numbers like those released for international titles, or even gave us a list of the top 10 movies and series on Netflix India. Instead, winners will be announced in a few selected categories and some popular ones will be selected in other sections. You can see all of the names below.
In 2020, Mighty Little Bheem season 3 featured on Netflix’s daily “Top 10” lists in more countries than any other title. Here in India Jamtara spent most of the time in the “Top 10” of an Indian title. The German series Dark (which ended its run with season 3) spent 95 days in the “Top 10” in India, while the Spanish series Money Heist was on that list for 170 days.
