Mass Effect Teaser, New Among Us Map, More Announcements at the Game Awards

The Game Awards 2020 celebrated the best video games of the year and also made some exciting announcements, ranging from long-awaited sequels to rewarding additions to popular games. Due to the ongoing coronavirus-induced pandemic, the event was practically hosted this year. Notable new announcements include an upcoming Mass Effect title, a new Among Us map, and two legendary characters to be introduced in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Fortnite. Check out some of the most notable announcements made at The Game Awards.

Mass Effect teaser

“Mass Effect Continues” – the new teaser for a possible new chapter in the popular BioWare science fiction action adventure just reveals these words towards the end. However, it is enough to get fans excited about the next chapter in the space saga. The teaser video shows Liara (or someone who looks a lot like her), one of the recurring characters from the series. The teaser doesn’t even announce a release window for the game, but rather developer BioWare tweeted via the official @ massffect handle that a new Mass Effect is in “early production”.

Dragon Age 4 Sneak Peek

As if one new Mass Effect wasn’t enough, developer BioWare also teased an episode of another hugely popular series – Dragon Age. While the new trailer didn’t show the actual gameplay, it did show the return of a few series favorites, including everyone’s favorite magician, Solas. Just like with Mass Effect, the trailer didn’t confirm the name of the upcoming chapter, nor the release window, or compatible platforms.

Between us gets a new card

With the airship, the new map on Among Us, players on board an airship can deceive and stab each other. The new map is huge and includes multiple floors, devices, and tasks. For some reason, video game journalist Geoff Keighley will appear as a mask in the game. The new update will be released in early 2021.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate gets a Final Fantasy touch

It has been known that Nintendo is not holding back when it comes to adding new characters to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. From Mario to Pac-Man, from Pikachu to Ryu, the battle title already has an impressive list of characters to choose from. Now the legendary Final Fantasy VII villain Sephiroth joins the fight as it turns out he is a new fighter in the franchise due to arrive this month. We can’t wait to see Sephiroth’s Masanume sword strike against Mario’s super-powerful kick!

Fortnite adds Master Chief

Speaking of character enhancements, Halo’s legendary hero with the gun Master Chief is now available as a skin in Fortnite. The Walking Dead fans also have reason to be happy as the series favorites Daryl and Michonne will join the roster December 16.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide drops the gameplay trailer

Chain swords, laser cannons and hideous monsters – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s new gameplay trailer promises exactly what we hoped for the upcoming co-op action survival shooter. The game developed by Fatshark is to be released exclusively on Windows PCs and Xbox Series S / X in the coming year.

Forza Horizon 4 gets a Cyberpunk 2077 car

The crossover that no one asked about is still pretty exciting though. Forza Horizon 4 will be Add A shiny new Quadra Turbo-R V-TECH vehicle from the recently released action RPG Cyberpunk 2077. It will be available for free in-game starting today.

Ark 2 star Vin Diesel

Fast-paced and furious star Vin Diesel will take on menacing dinosaurs in the 2017 sequel to Ark: Survival Evolved. The cinema trailer for Ark 2 sets the mood for the upcoming game that revolves around two warring tribes trying to survive against prehistoric monsters. The game is also accompanied by an animated series that, in addition to Diesel, features voices from Michelle Yeoh, Jeffrey Wright, Elliot Page, Russel Crowe, Gerald Butler, and others. Further details are expected to be announced shortly.

Elder Scrolls Online will have a new chapter titled Gates of Oblivion sometime in 2021. The movie trailer doesn’t reveal much other than the mood for the upcoming episode, which coincides with previous chapters in Bethesda Softworks’ massive online role-playing game. More details are is expected to be announced at a global unveiling event on January 21.

Evil Dead: The game announced

Shotgun-studded demon slayer Ash Williams will conquer the gaming world with Evil Dead: The Game. Based on the movies and TV series of the same name, the game is a third-person shooter that allows for co-op gameplay with four different characters and a ton of deadly weapons, including Ash’s glove, chainsaw, and even a broomstick! The PlayStation exclusive title will be released for both PS4 and PS5 in 2021.

Fall Guys is getting a third season

Fall Guys, the fun battle royale survival title that was hugely popular during the lockdown, is slated to have a third season and will include some winter-themed content to keep up with the holiday season. The new season kicks off on December 15th and will add a handful of new levels and some fun costumes.

Monster Hunter Rise announced new demo

Capcom has released a new trailer for its upcoming action RPG set to be released on Nintendo Switch on March 26th, 2021. While the trailer showed off some formidable new monsters, the developers announced that the game will receive a demo in January 2021. All Monster Hunter titles usually get a demo prior to actual release, and it would be interesting to see what creatures they are featured in at the end of the early demo.

Call of Duty Black Ops: The trailer for the first season of Warzone falls

New maps, characters, weapons and more have been revealed by Activision for Call of Duty Black Ops: Warzone in its season one trailer. The sleek trailer features the brand new map – Rebirth Island – topped off with an explosive rendition of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” in the background. The season one update will be available on all platforms on December 16.

Back 4 Blood, Returnal new trailer, more announcements

Turtle Rock Studios, developers of the popular zombie survival shooter Left 4 Dead, announced a new co-op survival shooter at The Game Awards. To judge by that Movie trailer, Back 4 Blood seems to be in the ranks of the Left 4 Dead franchise, complete with hordes of zombies, powerful weapons, and unique characters to play with.

Aside from that, Sony also revealed one pendant for the highly anticipated PS5 shooter Returnal. While maintaining the classic action shooter gameplay, the title promises to combine science fiction and psychological horror in a unique blend that could make the game stand out from other titles in the coming year. The return is scheduled to begin on March 19, 2021.

Just Cause, the popular sandbox action adventure, will get its own mobile game for the first time, which also promises multiplayer and co-op modes. Finally, Microsoft announced that Flight Simulator would hit the Xbox Series S / X in the summer of 2021 at the same depth as its PC version. It will be interesting to see how the game, which taxes even the highest quality PCs, performs on the next-gen console.
