Apple reportedly placed its first production order for 25 lakh MacBook laptops powered by the alleged internal CPU. Suppliers are asked to meet the requirements by early 2021. Just like the iPhone, Apple would like to introduce internal silicon central processing units into its MacBook laptops. A report suggests that new MacBook models powered by the internal CPU could hit the market in the second quarter of next year. Apple is holding an event on November 10th, expecting new MacBook models.
In his reportNikkei Asia announced that Apple will not be introducing any new MacBooks with the expected Apple silicon until the second quarter of 2021. Apple has asked suppliers to produce 25 lakh MacBook laptops with the new CPU by early 2021. This contradicts a previous report claiming that the new Apple silicon-based MacBook laptops were introduced on November 10th. Apple may only confirm the arrival of these new devices at the event, but are now reporting availability for next year.
According to the report, initial production orders for the first MacBook laptops represent nearly 20 percent of total MacBook shipments for 2019, which came in at 1.26 crore units. Apple plans to replace Intel microprocessors with its own CPU based on the company’s A14 Bionic SoC, which already powers the iPhone 12 series as well as the latest iPad Air models. The report says Apple plans to completely reduce its dependence on Intel over the next two years.
Apple’s upcoming CPUs for the MacBook are reportedly designed in-house but manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC). They are made using TSMC’s 5 nanometer chip manufacturing technology.
Apple has also reportedly asked suppliers to produce more than 2 crore units of iPhone 11, iPhone SE and iPhone XR phones from October through the end of the year for the holiday shopping season and early next year. This is because the iPhone 12 models are facing multiple delivery and production issues due to the pandemic. According to the report, the older iPhones manufactured after October do not come with a charger or wired headphones. In addition, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are said to have reached the end of their product life and are no longer in production.
“It’s time for the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max [to stop production]”Nikkei Asia reported, citing anonymous sources, adding that the two models would” affect sales of the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. “The source said the iPhone 11’s specifications were sufficiently different to avoid this problem .
