Kevin Feige’s Star Wars film features Loki Creator as a writer: Reports

Loki Creator and showrunner Michael Waldron has reportedly been hired to write Kevin Feige’s Star Wars film. This is the first piece of news we’ve received about the project since it was officially announced in September 2019. As President of Marvel Studios and Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment, Feige has overseen the Marvel Cinematic Universe from its inception as a permanent producer. In addition to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, Feige will also produce his Star Wars film idea. Nothing else is known about Feige’s Star Wars film at the moment.

Deadline First brought the news that Waldron was drafted as a screenwriter for Feige’s Star Wars pitch diversity Confirmation shortly thereafter. Both noted that this is part of a larger deal Waldron signed with Disney – a rare thing in the studio – that is expected to be included as well Loki Season 2. Waldron is also the writer of the Doctor Strange sequel, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, directed by Sam Raimi (Spider-Man 2) and expected to hit theaters worldwide in March 2022. Waldron’s first Disney project, Loki, Premiered in May on Disney + and Disney + Hotstar.

Waldron’s attitude shows that Feige’s Star Wars film is still alive. It wasn’t even mentioned by Disney during its big December presentation, where it revealed a new Star Wars movie (Rogue Squadron by Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins) and four new series. Cowardly Movie wasn’t the only Star Wars project that didn’t go down well. Star Wars: The last Jedi screenwriter and director Rian Johnson’s trilogy has also been ignored. With Rogue Squadron slated to open in December 2023, Feige’s earliest Star Wars film is likely to come out in December 2025.

Star Wars films were delayed for a year when Disney introduced new release dates

In front Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Waldron started with Dan Harmon in his cult sitcom community and moved on with Harmon to his next project, Rick and Morty. His first credited appearance was on Harmon’s adventure comedy HarmonQuest. Waldron wrote a season four episode of Rick and Morty and then went to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He was also the executive producer of the wrestling drama Heels, which is awaiting a release date.

Disney declined to comment.
