India lags behind Pakistan in mobile data speeds, Nepal: Ookla

India was ranked 131st on the Ookla Speedtest Global Mobile Internet Speed ​​Index and 70th on the Fixed Broadband Speed ​​Index in September. In the mobile internet speed department, the country lost two positions compared to the previous month, with an average download speed of 12.07 Mbit / s. In fixed broadband speed, India won two places with an average download speed of 46.47 Mbps, finishing in 70th place. In both cases, India’s numbers are well below the global average internet speed, with neighboring countries like Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka ranking higher in the mobile division.

According to Ookla Speedtest Global Index As of September 2020, the average mobile download speed in India was 12.07 Mbps – well below the global average of 35.26 Mbps. India recorded a two point drop compared to August and now ranks 131st out of a total of 138 countries. The average upload speed for mobile devices in the country is 4.31 Mbps and the latency is 52 ms. The global average mobile upload speed is 11.22 Mbps and the average latency is 42 ms.

India’s neighboring countries are on the list above. China is in second place with an average download speed of 113.35 Mbit / s, Sri Lanka in 102nd place with 19.95 Mbit / s, Pakistan in 116th place with 17.13 Mbit / s and Nepal with 17.12 Mbit / s in 117th place. However, Bangladesh performed poorly, ranking 133rd with an average mobile download speed of 10.76 Mbps.

Fixed broadband internet speed

When it comes to broadband landline internet speeds, India ranks 70th out of 175 countries with an average download speed of 46.47 Mbps – well above most of its neighboring countries. China is in 20th place with 138.66 Mbit / s, Sri Lanka in 94th place with 31.42 Mbit / s, Bangladesh in 98th place with 29.85 Mbit / s, and Nepal with 22.36 Mbit / s 113th place and Pakistan 119th place with 10.10 Mbit / s. The global average download speed is 85.73 Mbit / s, the upload speed is 45.74 Mbit / s and a latency of 21 ms.
