Google Launches November Update To Its Pixel Lineup: What’s New?

Google’s Pixel phones have received a new update with the latest Android security patch released in November, as well as various fixes and improvements. The latest security patch contains patches for various security vulnerabilities listed in the official Pixel Update Bulletin. Pixel 3 series and beyond received this update, leaving the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL behind. The update contains various fixes related to apps, audio, camera, sensors, touch and system user interface. Some of the fixes apply to all Pixel phones, while others are more phone-specific.

According to the official pixel Support pageNotable fixes include a preventative fix for accidentally removing playlists in YouTube Music, a fix for preventing ringtone audio for tagged contacts in DND mode, and a fix for the bug that caused the screen to appear after locking the phone lights up under certain conditions. There is also a fix for the issue where navigation is hidden when viewing full screen videos. These fixes apply to all Pixel phones outside of the Pixel 2 – Pixel 3 / XL, Pixel 3a / XL, Pixel 4 / XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a, 5G, and Pixel 5.

The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 also have a solution to the problem of preventing calls in Android Auto mode. The automatic brightness response under certain external conditions has been improved. Some users reported inconsistent touch noises under certain conditions, which have also been fixed.

The Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, and Pixel 4a also received a few bug fixes such as: B. Incorrect audio routing in Android Auto and media audio stuttering in certain apps. The Pixel 4 / XL have a solution to dark screens during phone calls, and finally, Pixel 4a users have improvements in touch response with certain screen protectors.

Several vulnerabilities have been fixed regarding the latest Android security patch, such as the one in the Android Security Bulletin For the official post, it says that Android partners will be informed of all security vulnerabilities affecting Android devices at least one month before the release. The list of vulnerabilities has been broadly divided into Android runtime, framework, media framework, system, and Google Play system updates.

The “Android Runtime” vulnerability could allow a local malicious application to bypass user interaction requirements to gain access to additional privileges. The “framework” vulnerability could, in the most severe case, “allow a remote attacker to cause permanent denial of service using a specially crafted message”. A Media Framework vulnerability could “allow an attacker to use a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code in the context of a privileged process.” In the event of a serious “system” vulnerability, it could “allow a proximal attacker using a specially crafted transmission to execute arbitrary code in the context of a privileged process,” explains Google.

Google will introduce the updates in phases depending on the network operator and device.
