Download WhatsApp Beta for Android

WhatsApp Beta for Android lets you enjoy the latest additions to the messaging service before it reaches its final release on the Google Play Store. The latest beta adds the long awaited Dark Theme feature. Further instructions on how to activate it are in the description below.

WhatsApp is available for Android, iPhone / iOS and Windows / Mac. WhatsApp is a cross-platform messaging service, so the devices can send messages to each other. Because WhatsApp Messenger uses the same internet data plan you use for email and web browsing, there is no cost to send messages and stay in touch with your friends.

Apart from basic messaging, WhatsApp users can create groups, send each other unlimited pictures, videos and audio media messages.

Features:

  • There are no hidden costs: After you and your friends download the app, you can use it to chat as much as you want. Send a million messages daily to your friends for free! WhatsApp uses your Internet connection: Edge / 3G / 4G or Wi-Fi if available.
  • Multimedia: Send Videos, Pictures and Voice Notes to your friends and contacts.
  • Group Chat: Enjoy group conversations with your contacts. Add or Remove group participants, change the group subject and set the group icon.
  • Personal: Set a profile photo that will be shown to all your contacts
  • There are no international fees: Just as there are no additional costs for sending international emails, there are no fees for sending WhatsApp messages internationally. Chat with your friends all over the world while they have WhatsApp Messenger installed and avoid those annoying international SMS charges.
  • Say no to Pins and usernames: Why bother having to remember another PIN or username? WhatsApp works with your phone number, just like SMS, and integrates seamlessly with your existing phone address book.
  • No need to log in / out: No more confusion about logging out of your computer or other device. With push notifications, WhatsApp is always on and always connected.
  • No need to add friends: Your Address Book is used to automatically link you with your contacts. Your contacts who already have WhatsApp Messenger will be automatically displayed under Favorites, similar to a list of friends.
  • Offline Messaging: Even if you miss the push notification or turn off your iPhone, WhatsApp will keep your messages offline until you retrieve them during the next application use.
  • And much more: Share locations and places, Exchange contacts, Custom wallpapers, Custom notification sounds, Landscape mode, Message timestamps, Email chat history, Broadcast messages and media to multiple contacts at once, and much more.

New Privacy Settings for Groups

WhatsApp groups keep connecting family, friends, coworkers, classmates and more. When people turn to groups for important conversations, users ask for more control over their experience. Today, we’re introducing new privacy settings and an invite system to help you decide who can add you to groups.

To enable it, go to Settings in your app, then tap Account>Privacy> Groups and select one of the three options: “Nobody”, “My Contacts”, or “Everyone”. “None” means you must agree to join every group that invites you, and “My Contacts” means only users you have in your address book can add you to groups.

In that case, the person who added you to the group will be asked to send a private invitation via individual chat, giving you the option to join the group. You have three days to accept the invitation before it expires.

With this new feature, users will have more control over the group messages they receive. These new privacy settings will begin rolling out to multiple users starting today and will be available worldwide in the coming weeks for those using the latest version of WhatsApp.

Introducing Stickers

From emoji and camera features to Status and animated GIFs, we’re always looking to add new features that make communicating with friends and family on WhatsApp easy and fun. We’re excited to introduce new ways for people to express themselves with stickers.

We’ve also added support for third-party sticker packs to allow designers and developers around the world to create stickers for WhatsApp. To do this, we’ve included a set of APIs and interfaces that allow you to create a sticker app that adds stickers to WhatsApp on Android or iOS. You can publish your sticker app like any other app to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and users who download and install your app will be able to start sending those stickers right from within WhatsApp. You can learn more about creating your own sticker app for WhatsApp here.

To use a sticker in a chat, just tap the new sticker button and select the sticker you want to share. You can add new sticker packs by tapping the add icon.

Delete messages. You can delete messages for everyone or just for yourself.

To delete messages for everyone

Delete messages for everyone allows you to delete specific messages that you have sent to a group or individual chat. This is especially useful if you message the wrong chat or if the message you sent contains an error.

Messages that you have successfully deleted for everyone will be replaced with “This message was deleted” in the chats of your recipient

. Likewise, if you see “This message was deleted” in a chat, it means the sender has deleted their message for everyone.

  • You can only delete messages for everyone for up to seven minutes after sending. After seven minutes had passed, there was no way to delete the message for everyone. To delete messages for everyone:
  • Open WhatsApp and open the chat containing the message you want to delete.
  • Tap and hold the message>select Delete from the menu. Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.

Tap Delete>Delete for Everyone.

To delete messages for yourself

  • Delete messages for yourself allows you to delete copies of messages that you have sent or received from your phone. This has no effect on the chat of your recipient. Your recipient will still see the message on their chat screen. To delete messages for yourself:
  • Open WhatsApp and open the chat containing the message you want to delete.
  • Tap and hold the message>select Delete from the menu. Optionally, select more messages to delete multiple messages at once.

Tap Delete>Delete for Me.

Web client for desktop computers

The desktop application is available for Windows 8 and Windows 10, and Mac OS 10.9 and higher, and syncs with WhatsApp on your mobile device. Because the app runs natively on your desktop, you’ll get support for native desktop notifications, better keyboard shortcuts, and more. After downloading and opening the app, scan the QR code using the WhatsApp app on your phone (look for the WhatsApp Web menu under Settings).
