As a bright young thing in the long-lived web hosting market ChemiCloud The success story began in the summer of 2016, despite the fact that the “trustworthy and passionate” team (so they claim) has more than a decade of experience in the industry. With a headquarters in Middletown, USA, they pride themselves on employing different experts from different countries in different time zones, with diversity highlighted as one of their main selling points.
ChemiCloud currently provides seven data centers spread across four continents: Dallas (USA), London (Great Britain), Frankfurt (Germany), Bucharest (Romania), Singapore (Singapore) and Sydney (Australia) as well as CDN services, their network covers more than 90 counties. All data centers are marked on the map and clearly displayed on the main website, making it easy for you to find out which location is most convenient for you. In addition, users can download a speed test from any of these servers and check it for themselves.
ChemiCloud’s main website is pleasantly purple and has a vibrant visual setting, but it’s far from sticky. More importantly, it’s easy to use and gave us answers to any questions we had and we didn’t try very hard or anything. There is also an official blog and a good one to boot. It feels alive and exciting (new articles are published every month) as well as their Twitter and Facebook accounts, which is a joy we rarely see.
Plans and Pricing
In addition to shared hosting packages, ChemiCloud offers various WordPress-optimized, reseller and cloud-based VPS hosting solutions. The simple shared hosting plans tend to be more expensive (compared to similar companies) but have some great free features including: Domain Name for Life, Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate, 15GB of hard drive space (SSD), not measured Bandwidth, unlimited email accounts and daily backups. All of this sounds wonderful and you will get it for a measly $ 3.95?
If you think there has to be a catch, you’ve figured it all out. This price only applies if you opt for a three-year subscription and the only alternative (for “Web hosting starterPlan runs for two years (which costs $ 4.95 per month), which is far from flexible. However, two larger shared hosting plans also allow billing for a year.
Credit / debit cards and PayPal are supported payment methods. If you are concerned about it all, they come with a fairly generous 45-day money-back guarantee.
One of the problems you rarely encounter when hosting with ChemiCloud is the security of your data. They promise the highest level of security and keep that promise (in addition to free SSL) by maintaining constant protection monitoring of their servers and free offsite backups of all websites, which are then stored for 30 days. So if you lose any of your data, you can recover it from your control panel without breaking a sweat. Another welcome bonus is free website and cPanel migrations. If you have multiple websites, ChemiCloud’s technical team will move up to 50 of them for you. Your only job is to contact them about this request within 60 days of signing up.
In order to host a website with ChemiCloud, you need to choose a plan. Since there are many of these, it is important to have an idea of what you want before proceeding. However, if you don’t know where to start, don’t hesitate to ask the ChemiCloud support team for a piece of advice or two. Either way, deciding on a particular plan shouldn’t be an overly overwhelming experience as all of them are well presented with all of their most notable features listed below.
Then you decide what to do with a domain name, choose a billing cycle and server location, and decide if you’d like one of the suggested add-ons (linked to security and marketing). In order to proceed with the payment and complete the purchase, you must first add your personal information, decide on a payment method and decide whether you want to be on the ChemiCloud mailing list.
ChemiCloud’s dashboard is stylistically the same as the website, which is good news. From there you get access to cPanel and thanks to the one-click installer you can easily create content and manage all aspects of your website (or websites).
Speed and experience
Fast performance wasn’t mentioned among the five advertised reasons why we should choose ChemiCloud as our hosting provider, so we were a little concerned about the results of the GTmetrix (our speed test tool) wanted to introduce us. Unsurprisingly, after a few tests on ChemiCloud’s main websites, GTmetrix gave overall performance an E (48%), which is slightly below average.
Fortunately, an availability test was a whole different story. Since ChemiCloud offers 99.99% availability, your website should be available at all times. Theirs (according to UptimeRobot) was that after a month of monitoring the availability of ChemiCloud’s main website, not a single second of downtime was found in our records. While we understand that a month doesn’t guarantee a full year of perfect uptime, this is a good place to start.
When it comes to customer support, ChemiCloud assures us that our “peace of mind starts here” as they provide “instantly available first class support” to every customer “anytime, day or night”. There are several ways to get in touch with this team. These include: phone, live chat, support ticket, and email. They promise an instant response with chat and a response within ten minutes to those who have submitted a support ticket. When we turned on the chat option and wondered if they would keep their word or not, within two minutes we received our (polite and wise) response, which is not exactly instantaneous, but close enough.
The self-help options on the ChemiCloud website leave a lot to be desired for users who are not subscribed. However, your customers are provided with an easy-to-use knowledge base (titled “Getting Started”) that contains step-by-step instructions (with supplementary images) on all important topics.
There is no doubt that HostGator and ChemiCloud can attract the attention of absolute beginners and seasoned webmasters alike. While both newbies can come up with some great features to help boost their confidence (free domain, an SSL certificate, and a 45-day money back guarantee), HostGator includes a drag and drop website builder to help improve the business.
Bluehost has been around for nearly two decades while ChemiCloud seems like a beginner by comparison. While not an industry veteran, ChemiCloud can offer its users unlimited website migration, a free domain for life, and seven data centers to choose from. On the other hand, those looking for dedicated servers for their demanding businesses must choose Bluehost as ChemiCloud does not provide them yet.
Both VirMach and ChemiCloud are relatively new to the market and still managed to cover a decent range of hosting services. However, since ChemiCloud does not provide dedicated servers, you can find them at VirMach (managed and unmanaged) if you are looking for them. If you are new here and want your first experience to be a pleasant one, we recommend going with ChemiCloud as they offer more support channels and an overall slightly better user experience.
WebHostingPad is a US-based host that can bring you everything ChemiCloud can, but with almost no restrictions and for a pretty penny. With a knowledgeable technical team and enough support options, both hosts share a beginner-friendly approach and are great choices for first-time users.
ChemiCloud promises “the best hosting experience” and while we wouldn’t call it the best hosting we’ve ever had, it will undoubtedly stay on our good side. They may not cover all types of hosting, their billing cycle may not be flexible enough, and they may not be the most pocket-friendly option either, but they will give you everything they can and provide you with the best possible support along the way. This, along with the fact that they have achieved a lot in the short time they have been there, makes them easy to recommend.
However, if you’d rather give your trust a more experienced host, HostGator and Bluehost are worth a try.
