Two minutes of review
The Biktrix Juggernaut Classic offers a lot of performance for electric bikes, all in a design that combines durability off-road with lashing straps on the road. While it’s not the lightest e-bike you’ll ever ride, it’s definitely comfortable and offers decent spec in this eye-catching frame design and splashy color scheme.
If you’re new to e-bikes, the Juggernaut Classic is the perfect introduction with an easy-to-use control kit that lets you handle the power while enjoying conventional cycling with the help of an eight-speed front derailleur arrangement. The 750W electric motor gives most riders more than enough punch, while the 48W battery means you can cover longer distances without worrying about running out of juice.
Biktrix has the added benefit of allowing you to mix and match components so you can effectively build your own bike. This is a great way to keep costs down if you dig into the basics. Alternatively, you can design your Biktrix Juggernaut Classic so that it is delivered immediately with all toys.
Price and release date
Biktrix Juggernaut Classic was released in November 2020. The bike costs from £ 1,527 / $ 2,099 / AU $ 2,757 directly from BiktrixHowever, the model tested was £ 1,745 / $ 2,399.00 / AU $ 3,151.
Biktrix has a whole range of e-bikes in its portfolio and builds them in Saskatoon, Canada. While designs follow a similar theme, all models differ significantly from one another. The Biktrix Juggernaut Classic combines the best of both worlds with a style that is equal parts road ripper and off-road mud dog.
Our model became all the more distinctive when it featured large, powerful 4-inch tires in the style of a classic “fat bike”. However, you can order the bike with less bulbous 3-inch bike tires. In fact, it is possible to customize your bike to suit your needs when you order it from Biktrix, and it can add or remove parts as needed.
There are some defining elements of the Juggernaut Classic, including its dramatic frame that has some funky angles, most notably the top tube. Our model shone in a rich metallic red with wild graphics.
Elsewhere, the mid-drive 750W electric motor is at the top of the bottom bracket and between the pedals. It’s perhaps the least appealing visual aspect of the entire bike. Meanwhile, the 48V battery sits on top of the front down tube in a pretty box-shaped black plastic case. There is a rubber power switch at the top, a USB port at the bottom and a charging port at the bottom, which is covered with a small rubber plug. The battery can be charged on or off the bike.
The hydraulic front forks are in contrasting black and offer 80mm of travel, while 160mm discs provide front and rear braking power. The gears are supplied with the kind permission of a Sunrace eight-speed transmission.
There is also a practical chain card on the chainring. Both wheels are covered in chunky black fenders that can keep rain and mud off effortlessly, while there is a luggage rack above the rear wheel that can hold up to 25kg.
The whole thing is rounded off by a Velo Plush Narrow saddle and a comfortable handlebar that contains important controls including the up / down lever for the right gear and a push button module on the left side for controlling the motor. This control panel allows you to turn the bike on and off and adjust settings. With an additional thumb throttle, you can activate the power as required.
There’s also a centrally-mounted LCD display that lets you track speed, battery life, range, and pedal assistance level, and record the distances traveled on the built-in odometer.
The Biktrix Juggernaut Classic looks and feels like a chunky proposition. If you add that, its actual weight is 28.7 kg without the battery. This is good news for anyone who wants an e-bike that rides to be tough enough for their needs and is on the bigger side. In fact, the bike we tried is available for anyone between 5 ‘9 “and 6’ 5”.
Better still, the Juggernaut supports drivers up to 150 kg, making it well suited for all types of customers. If you feel vulnerable on smaller e-bikes, the Juggernaut is sure to put you at ease. Get on the bike, use the quick release lever to make the final saddle height adjustment before heading down the street, and the Biktrix Juggernaut Classic is a pleasant surprise too.
The bike feels pretty hefty when stopped, especially at the front, but that feeling subsides the first time you cross your fingers. And while this design doesn’t suggest it will fly, the powerful motor and battery combination provides excellent performance.
Operating the controls with the module and thumb throttle proves to be a breeze, and we were also impressed with the braking power of these discs. Ride quality is another bonus as these fat tires really soak up clumps and bumps in the road. Combined with the really comfortable saddle, it’s easy to chew your way through a few kilometers without feeling tired.
In fact, the Biktrix Juggernaut Classic feels great for longer journeys, and there is a built-in headlight to cover you up when you’re not home before dark. Our test unit also had an additional rear light that we had to adjust as it is one of those extra extras.
Of course, it is also possible to drive the Juggernaut without switching it on, although you can feel the difference. You can feel the weight of the bike, the battery and the motor as well as the powerful tires. So while it runs well enough on the road, especially with the help of those eight gears, the bike works best when you use a combination of the pedal and electrical power. We were also in love with the shifting, which was satisfactorily consistent.
Meanwhile, you can change the assistance levels with the handlebar module by pressing the plus or minus symbols so that nothing too surprising is to be seen on the front of the power control. It’s all e-bike stuff by the numbers, and all the better for it. This bike definitely has a lot of power and torque that makes it easy to climb steep climbs.
As with most electric bikes, the best part is that you can get on the power as often or as little as you want. That means the Juggernaut e-bike experience can still provide a workout and help you when you need it most. In terms of range, it then depends on which battery you choose when specifying your bike. However, Biktrix expects the 48V 17.5Ah to last for more than 40 miles, the 48V 21.5Ah for more than 50 miles, while the 52V 17.5Ah range is over 45 miles per charge, with 10% more power on tap. The supplied 2A charger needed approx. 4 hours to fill the battery from almost empty to full.

Buy it when
They are of greater conviction
This e-bike is perfect if you tend to overshadow smaller two-wheelers with their piffling wheels and spindle-shaped frames.
You have a thirst for power
The Biktrix Juggernaut Classic does not disappoint with its brilliant motor and battery combination.
While it’s great on the road, those fat wheels and tires, plus adequate electrification, mean the Juggernaut is mud-hungry too.
Don’t buy it, though
Space is limited
The tall build style and chunky rubber of the Biktrix Juggernaut Classic make it not ideal for anyone pushing for bike storage.
You will seldom use the battery power
Although it works well as a regular bike, this two-wheeler works best when you use the engine and transmission together.
You are lost without a manual
There are guides and how-to videos available online, but these could be a little better when it comes to drilling the bolts and nuts on the bike.
