Bang & Olufsen is launching premium wireless speakers with a battery life of 8 hours

Bang & Olufsen Beolit ​​20 Premium Bluetooth Speaker has been launched in Europe. Beolit ​​20 is a successor to the company’s Beolit ​​17 speaker launched in 2017. The audio equipment maker claims the wireless speaker can deliver up to 37 hours of playtime at background volume and up to 8 hours at typical listening volume. The unique selling point of the speaker is the basket-like design, charging via USB Type C and the wireless Qi charging station on top of the device.

Bang & Olufsen Beolit ​​20 is the fourth generation speaker after Beolit ​​17 (start 2017), Beolit ​​15 (start 2015) and Beolit ​​12 (start 2012). The speaker has retained its overall lunch box / basket design. However, the Beolit ​​20 offers great improvements over its predecessor. The first is the design where the speaker now has a new grille and a simplified, intuitive suite of control buttons. The shell is made of anodized aluminum for a sturdy body and there is a new vegetable-tanned leather strap.

Bang & Olufsen claims that the Beolit ​​20 offers True360 sound that has been tuned by Bang & Olufsen engineers. In terms of speaker configuration, the premium speaker has three 1.5-inch full-range speakers, one 5.5-inch woofer and two 4-inch passive bass radiators. There are two 2 35W Class D amplifiers. It comes with five presets and a fully customizable EQ for the Bang & Olufsen app.

In contrast to its predecessor, the Bang & Olufsen Beolit ​​20 has an integrated 5 W charging station for charging Qi-compatible devices. Customers can store their devices above the circular charging sign in the middle of the top compartment. It is claimed to provide up to 8 hours of playtime at a typical listening volume and using the Qi wireless charging feature. The speaker is equipped with a USB Type-C connector and the 3,200 mAh battery should be fully charged in 3 hours (at 15 V – 3 A charge).

In terms of connectivity options, the Bang & Olufsen Beolit ​​20 is equipped with Bluetooth v4.2. As mentioned before, there is USB Type C for charging and a 3.5mm port. The loudspeaker also enables stereo coupling between Beolit ​​20 loudspeakers and between Beolit ​​20 and Beolit ​​17 loudspeakers.
