Asus has unveiled its CES 2021 Republic of Gamers portfolio, including the new ROG Flow X13 and XG Mobile ultra-portable external GPU designed specifically for it. ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE with two screens; and beefy Strix Scar 17, along with a new virtual product launch called ROG Citadel XV. The laptops have updated hardware including the newly announced AMD Ryzen 5000 series mobile CPUs and the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs. The announcements were made at Asus’ CES 2021 virtual ROG presentation. There is no word on when these products will be launched in India but we can expect them soon.
Asus ROG Flow X13
Starting with the ROG Flow X13, this is an ultra-portable 2-in-1 gaming laptop that can be paired with a new external ROG XG Mobile GPU. The ROG Flow X13, with a magnesium alloy body and a gravitational wave design designed to look like flowing water, is 15.8mm thick and weighs 1.3kg. However, it can run games with a GeForce GTX 1650 GPU and up to a Ryzen 9 5980HS CENTRAL PROCESSOR. It has Gorilla Glass on the 16:10 touchscreen and is available with 4K 60Hz or Full HD 120Hz panels. Asus claims 10 hours of battery life with a 62Wh battery. The device comes with a compact 100 W Type C charger. You can purchase up to 1 TB Nvme SSD and 32 GB LPDDR4X RAM.
Asus ROG XG
The ROG XG is a mobile external GPU that is based on the new GeForce RTX 3080 laptop GPU and can be operated with up to 150 W thanks to a compact vapor chamber cooler. According to Asus, the ROG XG is the smallest eGPU of all time and only 6 percent the size of a typical Thunderbolt eGPU case. It weighs 1 kg and should be about the size of a book. Asus has developed a proprietary connector that uses Thunderbolt and eight dedicated PCIe lanes for the GPU and an integrated I / O hub. The device has a built-in 280 W power supply and supplies the ROG Flow X13 with power, so that no additional power supply is required.
Asus ROG Strix Scar 17
Next up, the ROG Strix Scar 17 is Asus’ best esports gaming laptop. It has a smaller footprint than its predecessor. Unique features include an opto-mechanical keyboard, laser etching treatment on the lid resulting in different layers of texture, customizable hinge covers with “ammunition cap” and a translucent fiberglass material on the keyboard deck. It has the latest GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with dynamic boost acoustic optimization, up to an unlocked Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU as well as up to 2 TB NVMe storage, 64 GB DDR4 RAM, a 90 Wh battery with Type-C -Charging and RGB lighting per key. Screen options include WQHD 165Hz and Full HD 300Hz panels.
The ROG Strix G family has also been updated with three new looks, a 7 percent smaller footprint, and the same 90 Wh battery and 100 W Type-C adapter.
Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo SE
The flagship ROG Zephyrus Duo receives a Special Edition update with the same raised ScreenPad + second screen, but with a new GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with 130 W and dynamic boost, a new 6-phase performance design and an overclocked Ryzen 9 5900HX CPU 2TB of NVMe storage, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, a 90Wh battery, and a Type C charger. You can get it with a 120Hz 4K or 300Hz Full HD primary screen.
Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 and G14
The ROG Zephyrus G15 is now 5 percent smaller and 200 g lighter than before. It has GeForce RTX 3080 graphics and a Ryzen 9 5900HS CPU and a 165 Hz 1440p screen. CNC perforated matrix holes in the lid create a shimmering “nano-imprint”, and now there is a 20 percent larger glass touchpad and a soft-touch palm rest. A 3D microphone array and a 6-speaker setup with two woofers improve audio quality in various situations. You can get up to 13 hours of battery life. The more compact ROG Zephyrus G14 also gets updated display options, and the AniMe matrix display on the lid can be used to display a new Asus virtual assistant called the Omni that can report system performance statistics.
Asus ROG peripherals and ROG Citadel XV
In terms of peripherals, Asus also announced the ROG Claymore II keyboard with a 4000 mAh battery, quick charge and ROG RX Blue or Red optical mechanical switches. the ROG Gladius III wireless mouse with three connectivity modes, embedded RGB LEDs, and interchangeable switches; the ROG Swift PG32UQ 144Hz 4K IPS monitor with HDMI 2.1 and G-Sync; and the EATX gaming case with the ROG Ryujin II concept.
Finally, Asus released a new virtual product presentation called ROG Citadel XV on Steam. Users can review 360-degree views of various ROG products and specifications, as well as customization options, interact with the omni assistant, and also try out a shooting range mini-game.
