Apple reveals the best apps and games for 2020 in the App Store

Apple released the App Store’s list of the best apps and games for 2020 on Wednesday. The Cupertino company continued its annual trend, naming 15 apps and games that its App Store editors found to be the best – based on quality, design, usability and the technology they use. The winners of “Best of 2020” include the home training app Wakeout !, the action role-playing game Genshin Impact and the video conference app Zoom. Apple also separately announced the list of the most popular books and audiobooks on Apple Books and the 2020 shows on Apple Podcasts.

By an independent developer Andres Canella, Wake up! was chosen as the iPhone app of the year Zoom won the iPad app of the year. Calendar and reminder app for Mac, Fantastic Awarded Mac App of the Year by Flexibits. Likewise, video streaming app Disney +/. App for charity SharetheMeal also won Apple’s “App Trend of the Year” title for helping individuals make a difference during these troubled times.

Apple also designed the first physical App Store Best of 2020 award, which will be sent to the 15 winners. The award includes the blue App Store icon and the winner’s name engraved on the other side. It’s made from 100 percent recycled aluminum to reflect the company’s environmentally friendly approach.

“So many developers around the world have made a remarkable effort, and these Best of 2020 winners are 15 great examples of this innovation,” said Phil Schiller, Apple Fellow, in a statement. “From helping them stay fit and alert, to maintaining our children’s education, to fighting hunger, its effects have mattered to so many of us.”

In addition to the Best of 2020, which reflects the choices made by its App Store editors, Apple unveiled the most downloaded free and paid apps and games this year. Amazon India – Shop and Pay, AarogyaSetu, Zoom, WhatsApp, YouTube, Instagram and Google were among the best free apps in India. The highest paying apps listed by Apple in India in the App Store include Sticker Babai, DSLR Camera, Forest – Stay Focused, Speech Recorder – Audio Recording, AutoSleep Track Sleep on Watch, Specter Camera and Procreate Pocket.

Ludo King topped the charts for Best Free Games on the App Store in India, followed by Call of Duty: Mobile, Among Us !, Garena Free Fire: BOOYAH Day, Subway Surfer, Save The Girl! And Asphalt 9: Legends. The country’s highest paying games included Monopoly, Hitman Sniper, Minecraft, Plague Inc., RFS – Real Flight Simulator, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

In the US, the best free apps include apps like Zoom, TikTok, Disney +, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, while the highest-paying apps include TouchRetouch, Procreate Pocket, Facetune, HotSchedules, AutoSleep Track Sleep on Watch, The Wonder Weeks, and SkyView. The list of the most downloaded free apps in the US included Below Us !, Call of Duty: Mobile, Roblox, Subway Surfer, and Ink Inc. Minecraft, Plague Inc., Heads Up !, Monopoly, Bloons TD 6, and Geometry Dash were among the highest paying games.
